Sony launches new mid-range ANC WH-CH720N headphones

Sony recently unveiled their latest addition to the mid-range ANC headphone lineup, the WH-CH720N. The headphone is equipped with Sony’s V1 noise-canceling processor, which powers their outstanding WH-1000XM5s and WF-1000XM4s.

One of the standout features of the WH-CH720N is its weight. It is Sony’s lightest ANC over-ear headphones at only 192 grams. The lightweight design should enhance comfort, even with prolonged use.

The headphones are expected to offer an impressive battery life of 35 hours with ANC enabled, and 50 hours with ANC disabled. Furthermore, they support quick charging, allowing you to get an hour of playback from just a 3-minute charge. This will be handy if you need a quick top-off during a layover.

In addition to ANC, the headphones also feature Sony’s proprietary DSEE algorithm for music upscaling and multipoint connection. They also come with Swift Pair and Fast Pair features as standard, along with support for a range of digital assistants.

Sony has also ensured the use of recycled plastic in the manufacturing of these headphones. The eco-friendly packaging is also completely free of plastic.

Unlike the high-end WH-1000XM5s, the WH-CH720N doesn’t include a carrying case. It also doesn’t fold like the WH-1000XM4s. If either of these features are important to you, you should consider the higher-end models.

The headphones are available in black, blue, and white, and are priced at $150, with availability at the end of the month.

While the WH-CH720N is a mid-range ANC headphone, it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the high-end WH-1000XM5s in terms of ANC performance. For individuals looking to save some money without sacrificing quality, the WH-CH720N could be an excellent choice for travel headphones.
