With a 30mm focal length (60mm equivalent on a full frame) this lens can double as an everyday and macro lens.
For a lens that retails for $300, I was disappointed at the content and packaging. The lens came inside a simple box with a couple warranty and manuals. Then there was the lens enclosed in cardboard with the front and rear lens cap and that was it. It would have been nice if Olympus included either a lens hood or drawstring bag along with the lens. Luckily, I was able to get it for less than $100 during black Friday so I didn’t mind it as much, but I would definitely not pay $300 for it. Continue reading
I recently had the opportunity to photograph tea products for a friend who’s planning on opening an e-commerce store. This was my first impromptu product shoot and considering the restricted environment and equipment available, I’m satisfied with the results. With that said, here a couple things that I will need to improve for future product shoots.
1. Lighting: I didn’t like how inconsistent the lighting varied between each product. It made it very hard during post process to make every image consistent.
2. Attention to detail: Small details like not wiping the cup clean from water droplets greatly affects the images. Another issue I noticed after I finished was that I didn’t take into account my surrounding when I went for low angle shots.
3. Set aside enough time: I definitely need to take into account how much time it takes when doing any photoshoot. Being pressed on time, 10 different tea products, and a stuffy room made me want to get the shoot over with halfway in.
4. Research! I will be researching how a specific product is photographed and represented through social media sites to get a better idea of what I should be doing.
Here is a long term review (2 years) of my travel camera, the Olympus OM-D E-M10. There’s a newer model now available *E-M10 MRKIII just announced today (8/31/17)! which offers some slight upgrades from the E-M10 MRKII which is an excellent camera. So the OM-D E-M10 MRKII should be getting cheaper soon. Read on to the end to see what I liked and disliked about the OM-D E-M10 camera.
Before I begin, I would like to point out that Olympus cameras fall under the Micro Four Thirds (m43) format which is a smaller sensor than most mirrorless cameras and DSLR. However, I am happy to note that image quality is quite on par with these bigger sensor cameras so nothing to worry about. Let’s move along to the review!
Since I don’t travel that often now, my camera has been neglected. Today’s the start of a new month so I decided to give myself a photo challenge, where I must take at least one photo a day depending on the subject given for that day. At first, I wasn’t sure what kind of list I was gonna make so I ended up finding 4-5 random list and just cutting out all the words and randomly picked from them to compile my list as shown below.
It was my first time traveling out of state with my significant other, and it was a trip to remember! We had a blast and were able to fit in a bunch of activities within the 3 days we were there. Seattle is known to rain a lot, but we were lucky that it only rained the first day. There was, however, a lot of overcasts the entire trip. Overall, I enjoyed the city and would highly recommend Seattle to first-time travelers on a budget.
Here are some photos I took from Seattle. Continue reading
Due to the advancement of camera quality in smartphones over the past few years, they have been a lot of traveler’s go to device for photography instead of a digital camera. However, for the selected few like me, I prefer to take both when I travel for a couple of reasons. Read on to find out if you need to bring a digital camera on your travels or just rely on your smartphone.
First off, not all smartphone cameras or digital cameras are made the same. There are a lot of factors that determines how good a device’s camera is. For example: sensor size, megapixels, and optics are the few things that come to mind. I could go into detail about them, but for the purpose of this post we’ll assume readers here have a recent smartphone or digital camera.
